Colleagues, Friends, Doubters and Agitators!

In March and April the YES! Association will arrange two open meetings, one in Stockholm and one in Malmö. We want to see you there!

The YES! Association was founded in 2005 through the participation in the exhibition Art Feminism – strategies and effects in Sweden from the 1970’s until today. At the Press Conference/Performance(2005) the YES! Association offered the art institutions initiating the exhibition to enter a legally binding Equal Opportunities Agreement, formulated specifically for this occasion. We also gave a report concerning gender statistics at the institutions and advocated for quotas and sanctions.

Since then we have exhibited, staged direct actions, lectured, written and debated. In September 2008 we arranged “Privilege Walk/Symposium – Feminist and intersectional aspects of contemporary art” at Lilith Performance Studio in Malmö. Right now we are collaborating with artist Kajsa Dahlberg and the artist run space Transmission in Glasgow.

We hereby invite you to participate in our open meetings, where we will tell you about our current work, our history but most of all – share the future with you! Hopefully you would like to share a couple of hours and some experiences with us!

First stop is Stockholm:

March 26th, 7 – 9 at café Copacabana, Hornstulls Strand 3.

In Stockholm we will begin by watching a 40 minute video documentation from the Press Conference/Performance at Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg 2005. The video has English subtitles.

Second stop is Malmö:

April 1st, 7-9 at Signal – centre for contemporary art, Södra Skolgatan 31

In Malmö artist Kajsa Dahlberg is joining us and together we will talk about our collaboration and the project The Name Of This Association Shall Be Transmission.

The presentations will be in Swedish, the video with English subtitles and hopefully a discussion in many languages.

Welcome!
