It is a work in process and includes; a letter, two photos, a printed map, excerpts from “Code of Ordinances, Stamford, CT. Chapter 21. FACILITIES; CITY-OWNED: Guidelines for naming and renaming of streets, parks and facilities”, copies from the book “Zami – A New Spelling of My Name” by Audre Lorde (1982), and the engagement of many of us. The aim of the project is to name / rename a street in South End, Stamford to Audre Lorde Street in honor of (with her own words) ”black lesbian feminist mother poet warrior“ Audre Lorde (1934-1992) who lived in Stamford during the 1950s.
